Bob  Lyon of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park sent me an update of work on Jeff Smith's Parlor. I just love seeing how fast this work is being done.

This is Soapy's last week. As you can see, it's been lowered onto the new foundation. Looks pretty good,  considering how close it must have been to falling down. Maintenance built a frame inside to sturdy it up and  it's in good shape. Doing the exhibit planning now. I spent last week photographing almost 200 artifacts for  the exhibit.

Oh, and the original roof was wood shingles. The present corrugated metal is just there to prevent further leakage. Shingles have been ordered and I remember maintenance told me they'll go on this summer, so it'll start looking more like the original building fairly soon, though opening it up will take a while yet.

Bob, we really appreciate these updates, thank you!
