Denver saloon, 1885...

The photograph of an unnamed Denver, Colorado saloon taken in 1885 is typical of the average saloon anywhere in the west. It is very possible Soapy Smith drank here. (Denver Public Library)

  2. Belly up to the bar there, fellas, Soapy would be proud! Alaska has applied to be a part of the Pasadena parade for six years in a row and FINALLY got to be. Guess what? Alaska won the National trophy! My guess is Soapy would also raise his glass high in a toast tomorrow, January 3rd, because it will be Alaska's 50th Anniversary of Statehood!

  3. Wow! You got me on both counts! I missed the parade entirely and I did not realize it was the 50th for Alaska! CONGRATULATIONS ALASKA!
