Some additional info on the "Fatima&quo...Jeff,
Some additional info on the "Fatima" of the Bird Cage. That painting is in fact done by a man named M. Vaccari, a Tombstone local who painted it in 1882. It was a copy of a painting titled "A Dream at the Alhambra" done by a man named Henry Humphrey Moore. The scene depicted is actually inside the Alhambra Palace of Granada, Spain. Vaccari's painting was raffled off in they Crystal Palace Saloon right in Tombstone. I have far more specifics on the painting, Moore, and the whole story if you're interested. The version given to the public is a bold faced lie intended to increase the romantic value of a trip inside the already wonderful walls of the Bird Cage. "Jeff, than...Pam Potter writes the following:

"Jeff, thanks for bringing this up, it is an interesting topic. For more information on "Little Egypt" and "Fatima" see LOOKING FOR LITTLE EGYPT by Donna Carlton. There is a picture of "Fatima" on the boardwalk in Coney Island in 1896. There is also a drawing of her on the cover of the Police Gazette, March 31, 1894."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
