Hi Jeff,

It has been a very long time since I have e-mailed you. I wanted to let you know that my husband and your very distant relative, Ira A. Smith, Jr., died (June 16, 1933 - November 27, 2008). He died at Memorial Hospital in Flagler County, Florida. He was cremated, and at some future date his urn with ashes will be buried in the Smith family plot at College Park Cemetery on Virginia Avenue in College Park, Georgia.

I also have a question. I have a presentation straight razor that was given to R. T. Penn from J. J. Pinson during the late 19th century. My husband was always told that he was related to William Penn, but we were never able to prove that. Do any of your records show (1) was R. T. Penn was related to the Smith's, and (2) if so, was he descended from William Penn? Regarding J. J. Pinson, my research shows that he was one of three delegates from Coweta County to the Secession Convention in Milledgeville in 1861. It would be interesting to find out the connection between these two men.

If you have any information, it would be most appreciated. I hope all is going well with your speaking engagements, and I notice that you have published a new book about Soapy which I plan to purchase.

Regards,
Carolyn J. Smith

Dear, Carolyn.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know Ira is greatly missed, stay strong, and thank you for letting us know.

The family tree I have shows that Albert's great-grandmother was Francis Penn, but unfortunately that's all I have.
